The weekend was cool but Sunny. Highs were in the 50's. This week is pretty much the same, lower humidity and temps not quite reaching into the 60's. I'm trying not to complain as we don't have to deal with all the snow everyone else is getting. Fact: last week, Friday I think, 49 out of the 50 states had SNOW!! Hawaii didn't have a speck not even on the mountain tops. We had snow in Tallahasse, Jacksonville and the Pensacola!
How are you folks up north dealing with this trying winter? I'd love to know.

El Nino
Is causing winter havoc! Snow, Snow and more Snow up north and lots of rain in the south. We had a cold front come thru today and I was home and didn't have to be out in it. Yeah! I'll still be wearing my boots this week! The good thing is with all this rain we won't have to worry about any drought for a while. This January was the sixth coldest January since they have been keeping records. February could be more of the same, at least it is a short month! Temps here in Tampa Bay will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal for at least another week. It's winter folks.
Let me know how it is where you are.

Seasonal
This week was much more seasonal. Lows in the low 50's and highs in the 60's, today I think it had to be 70! Much better. Another cold front coming tomorrow night so weekend will be chilly.

A Rainy Saturday
It is a rainy soggy Saturday and unfortunately it was Tampa Bays Gasparilla parade so everyone got wet. At least it wasn't cold. I was out doing errands and people kept pulling out in front of me, I had my lights on but they didn't care or didn't look. PLEASE be careful driving in these conditions. Anyway I made it home safe and sound and it is a little warm in the house. I have the sliding doors open and the fan on. I'm also drinking red wine so that doesn't help! Tomorrow will be cloudy and in the low 60's. I'll be home relaxing all day so whatever the weather is, it will be fine with me. My sister in Greenville had a dusting of snow and ice, fortunately she had no place to go today. How was your Saturday?

Cold, Hot, Cold Hot!
Today it got to 78 degrees! The wind was blowing 20 - 25 miles per hr. I had the windows open all day and the breeze was whipping thru my condo but it was also very noisy, there are valances outside over the windows and that really added to the noise factor. With the humidity and the noise I finally had to shut down the house and turn on the air conditioning, yes the air conditioning in January! I know those up north like Vermont and New York aren't feeling sorry for me, this is just more crazy El Nino influenced weather. How about all the rain in California and Arizona? Arizona is so dry and so brown, I could never live there. The rest of the week here in Florida will have more seasonal highs in the 60's low 50's, much better. How was your weekend weather?

Florida Falling Leaves
What a strange winter we are having this year. The leaves are finally dropping off some of the trees and I can walk thru a few crunching leaves on the ground. The grass is totally brown from the freeze we had a couple of weeks ago. The palm trees still look great, they are very hardy. It is South Carolinas State Tree! So they do fine up north, if you can consider South Carolina up north which I do! No sign of more really cold weather for a little while so we are back to a more typical weather pattern. A big rain/wind even is coming thru tonight but it won't bring much cooler temps.

Back to Normal
Ok, we are finally on a warming trend. Last night we had many hours of rain, it was perfect for sleeping, the temperature was around 65 so I had my window open and enjoyed listening to the rain when I woke up occasionally during the night. Perfect timing for a rain event, it didn't ruin anyones weekend as long as you didn't have to be out last night. Today it is 70 degrees with 63% humidity and very breezy. There is a high surf advisory up. What a difference a week makes when last weekend we didn't even make it into the 50's!! We are very happy for the warming trend down here, we are not used to the really cold weather we had. I know the rest of the country is having a lot more severe winter weather but we can't help it, it's Florida!! Week ahead looks great temps in the 50's in the morning and 60's during the day, back to normal for our winter weather. Anyone else glad we will be warmer this week or do you enjoy the cold?
